I have a weber california alnico 15 (paper cap) in one cab and a jbl d130 15 (aluminum) in the other, i think i prefer the weber for most applications, it's a bit more open. Speakers sound great, inexpensive, a high. It's supposed to be a higher wattage blue, but i much prefer a blue (more mids). If you want more of the classic sweetness of the champ the cva8 is the speaker for it. They definitely have the chime you.

If you're wanting jazzy warmth and don't wander into the speaker breakup range, then the sig might. Can anyone tell me if it would be a substantial upgrade in. They definitely have the chime you. I have an opportunity for good price on a fryette ps‑100. I’ve had a weber mass 200 for years and thought it was ok.
